Indegene enables enterprise consent management for a global pharma and medical device company
The Customer
A large European pharmaceutical and medical device company specializing in eye care products was seeking a strategic partner to implement and configure OneTrust, a consent management platform. This included implementing and configuring consent capture, storage, and management of its existing applications and implementing a road map to onboard new applications in the future.
Challenges
Siloed applications: The customer's application ecosystem encompassed over 16 applications linked through a single identity and access management (1AM) system, alongside various disparate web pages. Within this scattered framework, each system gathered consent and preferences separately and employed distinct mechanisms for collection and storage.
No framework to onboard new systems: Applications within the current ecosystem employed diverse methods for gathering consent and handling user preferences, with no cohesive approach to manage consent information on a global scale.
No distinction in managing user preferences: Applications held ambiguous user preferences that overlapped with those of other applications.
Inefficient maintenance of systems: Several teams were tasked with collectively maintaining these consent management systems, resulting in an inefficient operating model.
The Solution
OneTrust engagement consent module implementation: Indegene implemented OneTrust as the single source of truth for all consent and preference information and enabled engagement consent capture and preference management. This enabled the customer to have a unified view of all consent related information.
OneTrust cookie consent module implementation: Indegene created cookie, banner, and preference center designs as outlined by the design agency by implementing custom cascading style sheets (CSS) and hosted them to enable consent tracking and preference management on 3 different websites at launch.
Consent and profile data migration: Indegene migrated consent data from the customer's healthcare professional (HCP) and consumer databases and imported it to OneTrust to maintain historical information.
Downstream system integration: Indegene seamlessly streamlined consent and profile data management to downstream systems through integration with both HCP and consumer end points, enhancing the distribution process.
Standardized approach for onboarding new systems: Indegene implemented a framework to onboard applications via identity and access management (1AM) or other sources by defining consent collection and storage mechanisms.
Best practices for managing user preferences: Indegene implemented 2 preference centers (HCPs and consumers) as a best practice to maintain distinction. Optimal strategies for maintaining finely detailed consent preferences that are pertinent to user profiles were identified and recommended, while ensuring that transparent communication was maintained with both HCPs and consumers.
Outcomes
Indegene orchestrated a comprehensive transformation in consent and preference management by implementing OneTrust's Engagement Consent Module as the single source of truth. This helped the company enable streamlined consent capture, preference management, and a consolidated view of consent-related information for the customer.
Indegene's data migration efforts, combined with integration with downstream systems, seamlessly enhanced the distribution of consent and profile data for use in marketing campaigns. Separate preference centers were implemented for HCPs and consumers as an innovative best practice to maintain data distinction. Additionally, Indegene devised a standardized approach for new consent management systems onboarding, ensuring consistent consent collection and storage mechanisms for both HCPs and consumers.
